Highly recomend snowshoe tromping through the woods, charging up & down snowy hills, ice forming on your eye lashes. 1 hour workout, 132 avg HR, and NOT on a trainer in the basement. I'm still always awed at how effective the body is at producing heat.

Remember this as you train for all those big races next year against seemingly insurmountable odds.
